The family behind Taittinger Champagne began their search for a Californian site in the 1970s and it took them over a decade to settle upon this 130-acre estate in Carneros, in the heart of Napa Valley. Whilst the majority of the output is dedicated to sparkling, it produces a tiny amount of intensely fruity red that is silkier and riper than Burgundian Pinot Noir, but every bit as delicious. Serve cellar-cool.
