The Symington family (best known for Graham's Port) are behind this rich and ripe blend of organic grapes usually used in Port production. The vineyards are in a unique location in that they lie on a softly undulating landscape in complete contrast to the steeply terraced slops of the main Douro valley. After fermentation, the wine is matured in new 400 litre French oak barrels for 10 months before bottling and release. Dark, brambly fruit combine with herbals notes of thyme and mint on the nose, The palate is spicy and savoury with generous weight to the fruit and calls out for rib-sticking dishes, such as enchiladas or lasagne.
