From the steepest of the Saint-Joseph slopes, this includes a portion of fruit from the Jean-Louis Grippat estate that is now part of the Guigal stable. Exotic and lush - almost Condrieu in appeal - showing honeyed tangerine, ripe peach, brioche and vanilla cream (from barrel ageing). Deep and textural with a silky soft mouthfeel cut by a lively acidity. Opulent and, as always, a total bargain. Far too powerful to sip as an aperitif, says Jancis Robinson, this wine would ideally suit a salt cod potato gratin.
