Laborie was granted to French Huguenot Isaac Taillefert in 1691 and began producing wine within 7 years. A visiting Frenchman declared that Laborie was "the best wine in the colony and [tasted] similar to our small wines of Champagne". Showing aromas of green apple and citrus, as well as toasted bread and hazelnut, the palate is creamy and round with some cleansing acidity and an elegant finish. Rich and complex and best suited to sushi or delicate seafood dishes.
