Forget everything you thought you knew about Australian Chardonnay - this is the real deal: rich, yet refined, mineral, complex and creamy, this oozes more elegance than you'd expect for the price. The late founder Bob Oatley championed the oak bombs we've come to expect from the region back in the 1970s, but as time went on, he started to move towards a more restrained, European-style of winemaking. Whilst this does have a lick of oak (it uses 20% new French barrels), it's nicely balanced with ripe citrus and hints of peach and vanilla on the nose with the peach continuing onto the palate.
