Founded in 1670, Warre’s is the first and the oldest British Port company established in Portugal. Synonymous with the term elegance, Warre’s Vintages invariably reveal floral aromas and wonderful finesse on the palate giving them a sense of delicate, subtle charm. Approachable when young, the Cavadinha wines develop even more elegance and balance over time; the nose can give aromas of very fine old burgundy after some years in bottle.

Warre’s Vintages are underpinned by fresh acidity, derived from the cool Cavadinha vineyard which is located in a gentle bowl within the heart of the Pinhão Valley. The 2006 Cavadinha Vintage has an excellent deep ruby red colour and a very aromatic and fresh nose, bursting with blackberry and fruit combined with fragrant floral notes. On the palate there is a seductive taste of plums and cherries.

Drinking Window: 2016 - 2040

"Very deep, opaque colour; lovely pure berry-fruit aromas, with a mountain-fruit character, soft and sweet initially, with that lovely purity showing through on the palate and a touch of bitter-chocolate concentration; considerable finesse here (from relatively late-picked fruit), yet quite powerful on the finish, with the character of well-ripened berry fruit running all the way through.  Drink from 2018."  17/20 Points, Richard Mayson, 2012 World of Fine Wine

"Gorgeous, bold, inky, black-fruited vintage port; it needs decanting." - Jane MacQuitty, The Times (December 2017)

"Powerful block fruit, bright fresh plum notes to the fore." - Gold Award, International Wine Challenge
