75cl * Vegan & Sustainable * 13.5% ABV * Gisborne, New Zealand
Although the fortunes of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc are far from waning, there is a growing interest in planting aromatic varieties, such as Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, particularly around Gisborne on the east coast of the North Island. And of course, Albariño.
A touch fruitier than Albariño made in Spain and Portugal, this reminds us of a Bellini cocktail, in that it hides a yeasty depth behind fruity peachiness. There's a hint of bright citrus and gala melon too. Full-bodied and fresh to the lip-smacking finish.
"Crisp lemon zest aromas and flavours with black pepper spice. Savoury, salty finish - Good Seafood wine." - Bronze, International Wine Challenge
