75cl * 13.0% ABV * Gisborne, New Zealand
Although the fortunes of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc are far from waning, there is a growing interest in planting aromatic varieties, such as Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, particularly around Gisborne on the east coast of the North Island. And of course, Albarino.
A touch fruitier than Albariño made in Spain and Portugal, this reminds me of a Bellini cocktail, in that it hides a yeasty depth behind fruity peachiness. There's a hint of bright citrus and gala melon too. Full-bodied and fresh to the lip-smacking finish. Drink to 2022
