Leeuwin Estate is known for producing some of the finest wines, released under their 'Art Series' label, in the entirety of Australia. The Prelude range offers some stunning wines more affordable prices which are made to drink sooner than their Art Series counterparts which tend to hog all the reviews. Pear, grapefruit and peach mingle on the juicy, full-flavoured palate - classy Chardonnay without being heavy or buttery.
"Late January rain refreshed this unirrigated vineyard, and perfectly ripe Chardonnay was harvested in early March. Burgundy clones and an element of natural ferment with turbid juice give a savoury accent and pillowy, creamy, oatmeal tones, while perfumed pear and white peach flesh out a persistent backbone of zesty lime acidity. Burgundian barrels (40% new) add classy toasted hazelnut and vanilla nuances. Well made, complete and raring to go. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026"

"You get a mighty sophisticated, high-class chardonnay here – and it’s the second label behind the Art Series. A pure and precise chardie with nectarine and a little cereal and edgy grapefruit to lift on the finish. Beautifully shaped and textured palate profile."
