75cl * Porto, Portugal
Dirk Niepoort is the fifth generation proprietor at this small family-run house, but the quality under his watch has been nothing but stellar. Critic James Suckling describes Niepoort as the Krug of Vintage Port. A wine of tremendous weight and concentration, it is showing cassis, blueberry and dark chocolate flavours bridled by some firm, grippy tannins that will need a decant stay in bottle to soften. Unmissable for the fortified collector.

This bottle is part of a wine cellar purchased from a highly respected Master of Wine (MW) with whom I have worked for many years and who is recognised as one of the world’s Italian wine experts. It has been stored in the MW’s own cellar or climate-controlled storage and I have every belief that it is in tip-top condition. However, as with all purchases of this nature there has to be an element of caveat emptor to proceedings – as such, we will not be able to offer refunds or returns on this item.
