Ridge's first vines were planted in 1885, but it took almost 100 years for the producer to wow the world: Almost lost to the world entirely during prohibition, they rose to great heights as its wines swept the board at Steven Spurrier's 1976 Judgement of Paris competition. Ever since, Ridge has produced wines that have been rightfully regarded alongside the finest Bordeaux blends and Burgundy's top whites. 

Nevertheless, Zinfandel, grown in Lytton Springs and Geyserville, has become another jewel in their crown. The 2023 vintage was a pretty decent on for Ridge, winter rains replenished the groundwater followed by a moderate temperatures throughout the growing season, ending in cooler weather in August and September, forcing a longer ripening time but producing a wine full of fruit characters and good acidity with supple tannins. The twenty-eight lots fermented separately on naturally present yeast. Of these, twenty were selected by taste for their exquisite fruit and balanced acidity. This is a classic Geyserville, ripe black cherry, blueberry and fig, with notes of herb, graphite and sweet oak spice; enjoyable young and over the next ten or more years
