30cl * 19% ABV * Akashi, Japan
The history of Akashi-Tai Brewery stretches back to the end of the Tokugawa period (1600-1867), when the company produced soy sauce and traded in rice. Since 1918, they have been crafting artisanal sake from only the choicest ingredients, brewing it in small batches by hand.
The Tokubetsu Honjozo Genshu is fuller in body and higher in alcohol than the Tokubetsu Honjozo, showcasing greater depth and more concentrated flavours. Pink grapefruit, beeswax and white floral aromas lead into a creamy, rich palate with tropical fruit flavours. The finish is clean and long, with a subtle note of umami.
This sake can be served anywhere between 6-45°C, and can be enjoyed on its own, in a cocktail, or alongside a meal like Teriyaki salmon.
