Pinot Noir
6 x 75cl * Burgundy, France
The Arlaud domaine dates back to 1942, with a marriage, of Joseph Arlaud and Renée Amiot. Renée's family were deeply embedded in the Burgundian wine trade and as part of her wedding dowry they received a perfect plot and through shrewd dedication added to it in the second half of the 20th Century. Since that wedding day the domaine has been family run and continues into the third generation to this day.
The Arlaud approach is low impact, something heard a great deal throughout Burgundy but at Domain Arlaud this is based on the agriculture of the 13th Century Cistercian Monks. With this in mind over the last twenty years the estate has gone herbicide free, become organic and now practices biodynamics as their main form of viticulture. One great aspect of this is that one can still see them ploughing their fields with great big horses.
Unlike many Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noirs which can be boldly tannic, the Arlaud wine is elegant, tender and delicate. On average, only 5400 bottles produced per year.
Rachel Gibson, Taurus Buyer, 'Perfect balance of fruit - silky, sexy, opulent, velvety.'
