Domaine René Cacheux et Fils is a hidden gem, consisting of just 3.26 hectares. The Domaine is headed by Gerald Cacheux, the fourth generation steward and he retains his father's name as an homage to heritage of this small producer. The site for this wine is a lieu-dit practically on the boarder of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. These are old vines and they produce around only a thousand bottles per harvest! The wine is a testament to this passion and you'll find it has a focus on purity and a judicious use of new oak.
The flagship of the domaine, this exceptional wine is a true delight—a blend of two parcels, one just three meters from Romanée St. Vivant and the other a mere 50cm from Les Echezeaux! Elegant and complex, it unveils a lovely texture and crunchy red and black fruit. An ideal candidate for your cellar, promising rewards with ageing.
Taurus Buyer, Rachel Gibson, 'Awarded 17 points buy Jancis Robinson Les Suchots is situated between Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Richebourg in the south and Les Echezeaux to the north, so it is safe to say it is surrounded by some of the very best terroir that Burgundy can offer. This is a really stand-out ‘Wow’ wine, and deserves all your attention. Bold and rich on the nose, with deep smoky, plummy, complex berry notes. Lots of structure, many layers and already a long finish despite its youth. When we tasted the wine with him, Gérald Cacheux recommended cellaring this wine to drink between 2029 and 2045 to enjoy it at its very best.'
