The vines are mainly on the foothills of the Vogues Mountains but the town where the vignerons would have lived is heavily fortified. If trouble were afoot the town bells would peel out and the workers would rush in from the vines! But Dambach has always been know for its high quality vines and wines and to some degree was sparred total destruction and is today a living edifice of a long gone medieval world. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne positive is the vines continue to the do their timeless work and the sites around Dambach are dominated by granite, which helps to control vine vigour and concentrate the fruit because granite doesn't retain water well so the vines are slightly stressed and produce smaller but higher quality fruit. What this means for our wines is that there will be a good clean minerality, good acid but also wonderful fruit flavours will abound.
