Domaine Lecheneaut is a winery based in Nuits-Saint-Georges with 25 acres across 18 different appellations along the Cote de Nuits. Lecheneaut specialises in Pinot Noir and the majority of their production is dedicated to the red grapes. The Domaine was founded in the 1950s from just 2ha and sold most of its wine on to the bulk negociants. In the late 80s with the establishment of the second generation Lecheneaut's, they expanded the holdings and began to bottle at the winery. Since then they have added many sites to their repertoire in particular the premiere cru sites in Gevrey-Chambertin.
This is a classic Gevrey-Chambertin. These wines are rich and supple with a heavier body. Drack red fruits and some black fruits coming through. Black tea and a hint of oak, with a good balance pf acidity and tannins. Delicious but even better if you can keep away from it and let it age in the bottle.
Try this with a piece of Venison Haunch, with fondant potatoes and a rich red wine jus.
