Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre
75cl * Organic * 14% ABV * Côtes du Rhône, France
Coudoulet is often called 'Baby Beaucastel' as the 30 hectare plot, also owned and run by Beaucastel's Perrin family, is located just east of the famous Chateau de Beaucastel. The soils here are also carpeted with galets, the region’s archetypal pudding stones, which help the grapes to ripen by retaining the daytime heat and releasing it at night. Plus, this blend mimics the family's Chateauneuf-du-Pape's recipe, with its high percentage of Mourvedre.
~ Team Taurus notes from a cask sample tasted on 6th October 2021 ~
Classic young ripe Grenache aroma of plums, cherries and summer fruit pudding lead to a soft medium bodied silky palate that is so smooth this wine will probably be drinking on arrival, but keep until 2030 if needed to.
"Ripe black cherries and plum cake, plus minty and floral notes. Considerable power, very focused" 92 points, James Suckling
