Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

75cl * 14.5% ABV * Pomerol, Bordeaux, France

Bordeaux in 2020 seems to have all the freshness that made the outstanding 2016 so appealing, but also combines the warmth and accessibility of vintages like 2009 - we can't get enough of this vintage, even if volumes are largely down. Gazin boasts a long history and has now accrued the largest amount of land in Pomerol, largely clustered around Petrus. Almost entirely comprised of Merlot (with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon), this boasts some big flavours of dark berries and black olive, although elegance is more evident than power. Firm tannins frame the long finish.

Drink from 2026 to 2047.

"This is really fantastic with so much intensity and focus. Firm, linear tannins frame the wine beautifully. Polished and fine. Its full-bodied, yet tight and poised. Complex flavours of blackberry, black olive, mushroom and bark. Best of the trilogy?" 96 - 97 points, James Suckling

"A quintessential Pomerol with its beautiful red and blue fruits as well as floral, earth, and sappy herb aromas and flavors, the 2020 Château Gazin is medium to full-bodied and has wonderful purity, ultra-fine tannins, and no hard edges. It shines for its purity and elegance and is just a classy, thrilling wine.” 94 -96 points, Jeb Dunnock
