Viña Pomal Blanco is made from the Rioja region’s traditional varietals: subtle Viura and crisp Malvasía. The Bodegas Bilbaínas estate is influenced by Atlantic and Mediterranean climates, which along with the areas deep alluvial soils, helps the grapes gain strong expressive aromas. After destemming, the skins are lightly macerated and then pressed. Fermentation takes place in new barrels of American oak and French oak and is left for 4 months in contact with the lees. Helped by gentle stirrings of the lees the wine gains complexity and weight on the palate.
The resulting wine is vibrant, rich and aromatic with aromas of white fruits and citrus peel on the nose, accompanied by aniseed notes and subtle toasted touches. The palate is fresh, with good length and finesse. A deliciously fruity and delicately saline white wine that is versatile and easy drinking. It matches perfectly with fish and seafood dishes but also with mild dishes such as vegetables, purées and cheeses.
