The small village of Maimbray, just to the north of Sancerre itself, is home to Domaine Roblin where 4th generation brothers – Matthias and Emile – have taken over from their father and are implementing new ideas to move the family domaine forward. They have a total of 19 hectares of vines with a terroir made up of Kimmeridgian and Portlandian chalky clay (Terres Blanches) soils. Vineyards are worked sustainably, organically where possible, with the greatest of respect to the environment, in July 2020 the Domaine became HVE level 3 certified.
Grapes were picked early to maintain their freshness and the respect to terroir is continued in the winery where the wine sees minimal intervention. Their Sancerre 'Terres Blanches' was cool-fermented in stainless steel then aged upon its lees for 5 months. Vibrant aromas of green apple and citrus, the palate is complex with ripe citrus and pear fruit, pithy grapefruit notes and an appealing stony edge to the long finish. The wine style is very pure, fruit-forward yet fine, and really top quality.
