Sangiovese

75cl * Vegan & Organic * 14.0% ABV * Tuscany, Italy

Richer than Chianti, yet providing better value than Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Italy’s hidden treasures. This reveals a certain southern, sunny ripeness in its fresh berries and cream character - not dissimilar to Raspberry Ripple - that cannot fail to be attractive. Nevertheless, Sangiovese’s classic supporting combination of fresh acidity and tannin can also be felt.

This great vintage was reflected in the abundant and healthy bunches that filled the organic vineyards. A warm spring was followed by a mild summer with occasional showers, allowing the Sangiovese grapes to reach perfect ripeness. On the nose, there are aromas of red berries, cherry and pomegranate and the unmistakable violet scent of Sangiovese. In the background a touch of vanilla and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is well balanced and ripe cherry and plum return, supported by a dense tannic texture. Medium bodied, this wine is well structured and enveloping with a long and persistent finish.

Pair with grilled meat and vegetables, cured meats, Italian cheeses, pizza, casseroles, risotto, and mild gamey dishes. Great for the ‘now’, this wine also has impressive ageing potential.

“A juicy, fruity red with aromas of sour cherries, plums, hazelnuts and bay leaves. Medium-bodied with sleek tannins. Elegant and fresh expression of the appellation. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. 92 points" James Suckling, June 2022
