This family-run winery based just north of Fleurie dates back to the early 1900s and has been run by current Winemaker Dominique Morel since 1967. Dominique’s philosophy is to make wines he likes to drink, with plenty of fruit, a good colour and a rounded mouthfeel. The Fleurie, which comes from 45-year-old vines, is elegant and well-balanced with bright and lifted acidity.
2020 proved to be a successful vintage in Beaujolais. After a mild and frost-free spring, summer saw hot, dry weather with minimal growing challenges such as hail or disease. The continued heat resulted in moderate yields of fruit that were rich and concentrated in flavour with slightly higher alcohol levels than usual. This wine has fragrant violet and red fruit aromas on the nose and a palate bursting with bright fruit and supple tannins. It is an elegant wine with a long, persistent finish.
