Pinot Grigio
75cl * 14.5% * Alto Adige DOC, Italy
Since it was established in 1932, Nals Margreid has focused on creating variety and terroir-driven wines from South Tyrol, where Italy’s northernmost wine-growing region borders on the Alps and the Dolomites.
Subtle notes of apricot purée, lychee and a slight undertone of fresh thyme are found here. This Pinot Grigio is ideally served moderately chilled at 10-12°C as an accompaniment to stuffed vine leaves and souvlaki or a fruity endive salad, Alpine cheeses and charcuterie. There's a lovely Alpine freshness to this wine, which makes it a really interesting alternative to Pinot Grigio from further south in Italy.
Decanter Magazine experts choice of Pinot Grigio: "This excellent co-operative’s signature Pinot Grigio comes from one of the variety’s ‘grand cru’ vineyard areas, Punggl near the village of Magreid. Fermented and aged on its lees in large 30hl barrels, the wine is ripe, round and luscious with flavours of toasted nuts and ripe pear. Such a satisfying mouthful, a classic example of the Alto Adige style." Drinking Window: 2023 - 2028. Score: 96 Points
