Exceptionally old vines for Burgundy (some more than 60 years old) provide natural concentration to Jeanniard’s wines, which are both well-structured and supremely elegant, even for their lofty appellation. Because he feels that wines are made in the vineyard and not the winery, new oak is used cautiously for a framing, rather than an overtly flavouring effect.
Oodles of blackberry and cherry capture the typical combination of fleshy power and silky finesse of Morey. (The Ruchots most prestigious plot has illustrious (and expensive) neighbours in Clos de Tart and Chambolle.)
