Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre

Historically, the Boisson family behind this superb domaine were both winemakers and blacksmiths. The nickname ‘Caboche’ refers to the regional word for the nails used to fix the shoes under the horse’s hooves, maintaining a thoughtful nod to the family’s heritage.
2009 was a wonderfully warm year in the Rhone, and on the whole, the wines have displayed more balance than in similarly ripe vintages. This is a beautifully mature and mellow wine, to be enjoyed now. Fragrant on the nose, with some stewed red hedgerow fruits, a hint of Mediterranean herbs and a touch of spice.
Keep the food pairings as mellow as this wine - slow cooked, melt in the mouth shoulder of lamb with seasonal vegetables would certainly do the trick.
