Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle
37.5cl * 13.5% ABV * Barsac, Sauternes, Bordeaux
Second Cru Classe Barsac and the largest of the Doisy estates, Doisy-Vedrines has been owned by the Casteja family since 1946. It is located on the clay-limestone hills in Haut Barsac and creates one of the richest and most full-bodied wines in the appellation.
The grapes are carefully picked in several batches and the yields are unbelievably low. Fermentation starts in temperature-controlled, stainless steel vats for around a week before the juice is transferred to 100% new French oak barriques, where it remains for 18-20 months.
The excellent 2010 vintage exudes an exotic array, with aromatic pineapple and grapefruit notes along with some zesty citrus. The bouquet is exotic with pineapple, zingy lime and grapefruit. The mouthfeel is enticingly full, rich, round and fat, with more ripe pineapple and lime, combined with a blast of luscious honey notes in the mid palate. A wonderful balancing acidity sets off this truly spectacular wine.
