Chateau Les Ormes de Pez is one of St-Estephe's leading Cru Bourgeois properties. It is owned and run by Jean-Michel Cazes who is also managing director of Chateau Lynch-Bages. They have 32 hectares of vineyards, which lie on soils that are rich in gravel on a subsoil of sand and clay. The grapes are hand-harvested and then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats.
The exceptional 2005 vintage offers a beautifully perfumed nose, with concentrated, dried black and red fruits mingling with a hint of gentle vanilla oak in the seamlessly silky palate. This is drinking brilliantly right now so tuck in and enjoy.
