Chateau Les Ormes de Pez is one of St-Estephe's leading Cru Bourgeois properties. It is owned and run by Jean-Michel Cazes who is also managing director of Chateau Lynch-Bages. They have 32 hectares of vineyards, which lie on soils that are rich in gravel on a subsoil of sand and clay. The grapes are hand-harvested and then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats.
The naturally appealing personality of Ormes de Pez shines through in this vintage as this is a wine full of elegance and charm. Following on from the highly regarded and well publicised 2015 and 2016 vintages, the 2017 has often been overlooked, yet offers some fantastic wines such as this, and is arguably better value. Ormes de Pez showcases a seductive palate with juicy black fruits, black cherry and toasted oak, continuing to a full and persistent finish.
