6 x 75cl * 12.5% ABV * Cotes de Beaune, Burgundy, France
Domaine Paul Pillot is a leading Burgundy estate based in Chassagne-Montrachet.
Our tasting notes (Jan 2022) read "One of those amazing Chassagnes that just hits the spot by combining the electricity of the purest mineral fruit with the richness of the appellation. Fantastic wine - and the wine of the tasting in a stellar line up. Need 3 or 4 years to mature and will drink for a couple of decades afterwards."
Those of you who love a bottle with a wax top (who doesn't!) will be pleased to know that this wine will probably come in with one.
Decanter Magazine's review is below (Charles Curtis MW)
"With its ripe apple citrus fruit and hints of beeswax, marzipan and smoke, this is an elegant wine with great finesse. However, it is not one lacking in tension or structure. The use of large old casks and the long ageing ensure the purity of the fruit, while the careful reductive fermentation and ageing give us the substance to guarantee a lovely balance and length. This 0.2ha parcel from the top of the slope near Grande Montagne has produced a wine of uncommon richness for this site. Drinking 2025 - 2050."
