Quintarelli is a legendary estate located in the hills north of Verona in the heart of the Valpolicella appellation. It is regarded by many as the greatest of all Amarone producers, and is known for its traditional deep, complex wines packaged with distinctive handwritten labels. The great man Giuseppe Quintarelli himself, known as il Maestro del Veneto, died in 2012 aged 84 but the winery remains family-owned and managed by his daughter Fiorenza.
50% of the grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, while 50% are dried for two months on rush mats before being pressed in a system known as the appassimento method. The two wines are then combined and aged for seven years in oak, creating this blend which is ripe and dense with dark cherry fruit, liquorice, dried ginger, wild berry and allspice, while retaining a lightness of touch.
Delicious with red meats, such as venison and beef and pasta or meats in rich tomato sauces.
Drinking now and until 2030.
