Petite Sirah, Zinfandel
75cl * 13.5% ABV * Dry Creek Valley, California, USA
Ridge's first vines were planted in 1885, but it took almost 100 years for the producer to wow the world: its wines swept the board at Steven Spurrier's 1976 Judgement of Paris competition. Ever since, Ridge has produced wines that have been rightfully regarded alongside the finest Bordeaux blends and Burgundy's top whites.
Ridge's oldest Petite Sirah (also known as Durif) vines were planted in 1901, but a Petite Sirah-dominant wine only became part of the core range in 2009. A firm, chewy and full-bodied wine, this is a red for the long-haul and best approached from at least 2026. Smoky, bitter chocolate nuances match alongside baked blueberry and tart cranberry fruit notes.
