Riesling can sometimes be a hard sell. Loved by those who work in the wine trade but sometimes misunderstood by those buying from the other side of the counter....and ne'er the twain shall meet...!
Possibly it is the sheer variety of flavours and textures that can be experienced from this grape that confuses and then puts people off. Ranging from a crisp, limey and zingy young Riesling, through the 'petrol' scented aged examples right into the wondrous world of sweet beerenauslese and trockenbeerenauslese, which will age for years and give a length of finish that will be remembered for even longer..!
To start the journey you need to take the first step and this German Riesling is a classic fresh and crisp example. There's stone fruits in there too on the palate and a wonderful fresh acidity that would make this a perfect pair for most fish dishes, especially those with a little spice, and of course Asian-spiced dishes too.
