I wouldn't blame you if you haven't heard of Château Meyney... they would though, as it's one of the oldest estates in the Medoc. And its 51 hectares of vineyards stretch over some of the best hilltops that overlook the Gironde estuary. So there you go.
Listed as a convent in 1662 and once bought by the amazingly named Mr Désiré Cordier in 1919, the estate is now owned by CA Grands Crus, a fully owned subsidiary of the Groupe Crédit Agricole, which also owns Château Grand-Puy Ducasse.
With bottle age (it's drinking well now and will continue to do so until about 2024) and a lovely dose of rich cassis-iness, this meat-loving Bordeaux should perhaps gain a little more notoriety. I hope it will among our customers here.
