75cl * 12.5% ABV * Península de Setúbal, Portugal
A fresh white wine made by the Herdade do Portocarro company in the Setubal Peninsula wine region, just to the south of Lisbon. Effectively what we call a blanc de noir - red grapes (in this case Sangiovese) removed from their skins and pressed to make a white wine.
A lovely example of the crisp and zesty white wines that can be made in southern Portugal where the ameliorating Atlantic influence calms the naturally hot Mediterranean summers.
Clean and intense nose with citrus notes and orange blossom which follows through on the palate. A great match for many foods due to the unusual grape variety used.
