Unsurprisingly, Pieter Hauptfleisch Walser's BLANKbottle labels don't give much away. You won't find a grape variety or an indication of style mentioned - he does this in order that the wine is judged on its own merits. Sometimes he makes up to 30 different wines per year, many of which are one-offs and never repeated. But this eclectic approach has gained him a cult following and we're lucky to stock a handful of his wines. This is the third release of Smaug the Magnificent. Bottled in 2018, ageing ever since and can slumber for a further 5 to 7 years like a sleeping dragon. Artwork by Luca Waker.
- Taurus Team Tasting Notes -
The aroma consists of baked apple, hazelnut and fresh brioche. Rich and round with notes of fig and quince accompanied by a silky creaminess from the Chenin. The finish is saline and fresh as the Palomino shines through. A new Taurus team favourite!
