Founded in 1979 the La Crema vineyard and winery was originally called La Crema Vinera - or 'the best of the vine'. And these really are the best grapes the region has to offer. Cool, morning fogs billow in off the Pacific Ocean to provide California's near-perfect and long, steady growing season. Extended 'hang time' on the vines results in small, high concentrated berries balanced by crisp acidity.
On the nose there's lemon and grilled pineapple, followed by nectarine, tropical fruits and tangerine on the palate, with a dash of spice and underlying minerality. It's an exceptionally well-balanced wine with a lovely lingering finish and perhaps most importantly, and usefully for the drinker to know, it's lighter in weight than the vineyards other Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.
Enjoy with seafood and most fish dishes or with roast chicken.
