Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
75cl * 13.5% ABV * Tuscany, Italy
Tignanello is produced from 50 hectares of south-facing vineyards at 400m above sea level at Antinori's Tignanello estate. Iconic for being the first Sangiovese to be aged in small oak barrels and the first modern red to include non-traditional varieties (e.g. Cabernet) in the blend, this certainly earns its reputation as the greatest high quality, estate wine made in scale. A classy vintage, all about finesse and nuance, rather than all out power, Tignanello is never short of flavour descriptors: you can clearly detect everything from red berries to mocha, spicy oak to liquorice here. A gentler, more sophisticated style than previous vintages, it reflects the lengths that the estate has gone to in the vineyard and the toning down of oak in the winery. Drink from 2027-2040+.
