It is the passion for wine that led Bertrand Bachelet to take over the family estate in 2011, following his father, Jean-Louis. He represents the fourth generation of a line of Burgundy winegrowers.
At present, Bertrand operates 13 hectares spread over the coast of Beaune, from the Maranges to Pommard. Morgeot is located to the south of the village, marked by a compact limestone soil, with iron oxide inclusions, bringing to the land of Chassagne this particular red-brown color.
This golden wine spends 16 months aging, 12-13 of those in barrel. On the nose there's a subtle blend of white flowers and honey; followed by a full mouth with a beautiful structure. It would be a wonderful match for lobster, chicken Bresse with morels or anything in a creamy sauce. Drink it over the next eight years.
