12 x 75cl * 14% ABV * Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux in 2020 seems to have all the freshness that made the outstanding 2016 so appealing, but also combines the warmth and accessibility of vintages like 2009 - we can't get enough of this vintage, even if volumes are largely down. Potensac always offers much more than its 'Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel' status, but is known to represent a more traditional (albeit crowd-pleasing) style of claret. Seductive with ripe cherry, wild herbs and cigar box, there is plenty of lift and drinkability to the core. Drink 2025-2036+.
- “Elegance and classicism , really feel that you are in good hands in a great claret property. The fruit is ripe and yet fresh, there are quite a lot of tannins that come in on the finish, along with an earthy unfusiness. This is enjoyable, it's closed and should remain so for the next three to four years. The 2018 will give more immediate pleasure, but this will amply reward just a little more patience. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend.”
