6 x 75cl * 13% ABV * Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux in 2020 seems to have all the freshness that made the outstanding 2016 so appealing, but also combines the warmth and accessibility of vintages like 2009 - we can't get enough of this vintage, even if volumes are largely down. D'Armailhac - a fifth-growth property now under the auspices of the Rothschild family - has knocked it out the park this year. Richly structured, this offers bright and lifted notes of florals and currants, and weaves some grainy tannins through its juicy core. Drink from 2028.
