Malbec has a tendency to be made in an overly fruity, even jammy style, so it's a pleasure to find a wine showing a little more restraint and seriousness - we'd expect nothing less from Zuccardi, voted best winery and vineyard for the second consecutive year in 2020. Fermented and aged in concrete vats to produce a cool, slatey red with some dried herb complexity. Precise, pure flavours of black plum, cassis and blackberry on a juicy palate that gets deeper and more layered with time in the glass. Decant for 2 hours before enjoying with a chargrilled steak. Drink to 2032.
Fun fact: the earth dug up for the winery's foundations went into making the concrete for the fermantation vats - meaning the wine is very much still connected to the earth long after the grapes have been picked.
