Vines were first planted at Nutbourne in 1980 with the Gladwin family taking over the reins in 1991. Richard (farmer), Oliver (chef) and Gregory (restaurateur) combined their unique skills with the launch of Gladwin Brothers in 2013. Their three London restaurants - The Shed, Rabbit and Nutbourne - utilise ingredients and wine from the family farm.
The estate, near Pulborough in West Sussex, has 26 acres under vine, which include the traditional sparkling varieties - Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc - as well as Bacchus, Huxelrebe and Reichensteiner. Winemaking is under the guidance of Owen Elias. Aged for 36 months before release, this traditional/Champagne method English Sparkling Wine shows a pleasing mixture of baked orchard fruit and biscuit notes.
