Maison Blanche Montagne Saint Emilion 2016 (magnum)

A classy Bordeaux from the hills overlooking Saint Emilion and Pomerol. Flavours of pencil lead, cedar and black fruits dominate the palate, while there is something a bit like a Medoc wine that comes from the Cabernet Franc in the blend with Merlot (like Cheval Blanc) but it's also undeniably charming and drinkable as Saintt Emilion should be. 

Maison Blanche is the estate's premium wine and is made from fruit from the oldest vines in heritage vineyards. Low-yield vines are hand-harvested at optimum ripeness and spontaneously fermented in concrete tanks before being aged for up to 18 months in a combination of new (30%) and used barriques before being bottled with minimal sulphur. No oenological products (yeasts, enzymes, powdered tannins, tartaric acid, etc), no temperature manipulation, no mechanical interference of any kind.
