75cl * 12.5% ABV * Douro, Portugal
In 1761, Portugal's de facto ruler, the Marquis of Pombal, ordered stone markers be placed around the Douro to delineate its best vineyards - Quinta da Pedra Alta was the only producer to have three markers on its property. This is sourced from high vineyards in the Cima Corgo in order to escape the heat of the Douro: fresh and zesty notes of grapefruit and lemon combine with riper flavours of melon and pineapple. The whole thing is tied together with some well-integrated oak spice and brisk acidity. Drink to 2023.
