75cl * 13.5% ABV * Pomerol, Bordeaux
Dominique Leymarie has been at the helm of Tour Robert in Pomerol and Bellerose-Figeac in Saint-Emilion since 1983. This is the prestige cuvee in the stable, made from the oldest Merlot vines in the best terroir - a tiny 1.5 hectare site sitting on a sandy-gravel ridge. Pomerol is not known for its affordability, but we think we're onto a bit of a winner here in terms of price-to-quality ratio. Expressive of ripe blackcurrant, wood smoke and spice, it is rich and rounded on the palate with a structured core. Its heft will neatly complement Tournedos Rossini or Beef Wellington. Drink to 2024.
