Malbec * 75cl * 14% ABV * Uco Valley, Argentina
Zuccardi's Finca range comprises five "pure mountain wines" that express the identity of a specific site. In this case, the estate uses just short of 40 different components to make this wine from small plots on shallow soils within the vineyard in the Valle de Uco. The grapes are hand-harvested, the wine fermented in concrete containers with indigenous yeasts, and then aged in large oak barrels. This is surely Malbec at its greatest - a blend of power and elegance, energy and finesse - with a soft and creamy texture and deliciously ripe red fruits that combine with mineral notes (wet stone, graphite, chalk). It is now one of three South American wines to have achieved the perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Just 6400 bottles made. Pair with grilled meat or earthy vegetable dishes, like pumpkin or beetroot.
