Pinot Noir * 75cl * 12.5% ABV * Central Otago, New Zealand
The Wooing Tree is a local Central Otago landmark that has long been a place for locals to woo their lovers. The owners and winemakers studied at Plumpton College near Brighton and then moved back to Cromwell to run the vineyard - the impending removal of the tree to make way for vines prompted a campaign to save it, and so the tree stayed and lent its name to the wine. After being handpicked, the fruit is carefully fermented and aged in French oak. Complex and powerful with notes of ripe brambles, crushed plum and a hint of spicy complexity. Soft and supple on the palate with generous, structured tannins and length, this would go down nicely with herbed lamb cutlets.
