Shiraz * 75cl * 14.5% ABV * Clare Valley, Australia
Named after the historic property that was established in 1892, the St Andrews wines exemplify the best of Clare Valley winemaking. Australia's Clare Valley is known for its cool climate and long, gentle ripening of its grapes and this is remarkably full and rich for a Shiraz from such a climate. However, it's also uber-fresh and lifted, as you'd expect, which gives it a certain lightness that carries through to the finish. Plummy, curranty fruit oozes from the glass, but a sprinkling of mocha adds complexity to the ripeness. Soft and silky. Crack this one open for a posh burger night.
