Chateau Grange Cochard was purchased by English couple James and Sarah Wilding, their first vintage produced in 2009. The 6-hectare Morgon estate includes a small plot of old vines within the Cote du Py - a prime site sitting on an extinct volcano, which lends superb volcanic soils to the vines. The age of the vines (between 40 and 100 years) results in low yields and intense, small berries giving structure, tannins and powerful dark fruit flavours. Rather full and fruity in what has been described as an 'international' style - the powerful vanilla notes from oak-ageing is kept in check by lively, fresh fruit notes. Drink to 2022+ - ideally with a plate of charcuterie or a slow-braise.
