75cl * 12.5% ABV * Huailai, China
Founded in 1997 with the support of former British Prime Minister Edward Heath when he was on a state visit to China. The winery was initially a joint British-Chinese venture that specialised in distinctive traditional Chinese grape varieties and wines that perfectly express the local terroir. This is somewhat unusual then being made from Tempranillo, that noted Spanish grape variety. Think of this as a 'Chinese Rioja' of sorts: packed with fresh blueberry and red cherry, it has a creamy, soft texture and sees 9 months in French oak. A reliable introduction to the fine wines of China.
