75cl * 12.5% ABV * Nelson, New Zealand
New Zealand's winemakers are less bound by wine legislation than their counterparts in Europe, meaning that they can grow pretty much any grape variety in any region. Seifried Estate is a champion of unusual grape varieties and count Sylvaner, Muller Thurgau and Refosco among their output. Zweigelt is most often associated with its native Austria, however it is also suited to Nelson's mild climate. Here, it results in a red loaded with fruity intensity and combines some toasty oak and savoury notes with some nice berry and rhubarb flavour. Excellent with spiced meats or barbecue flavours.
